Compass CBS donated 20 laptops to equip 5 classrooms at local Title 1 elementary charter school, Create Academy, giving students more access to technology.

At Compass CBS, we truly believe it is critical to have digital literacy skills to succeed in the 21st century economy. “We are very honored to contribute to Create Academy and support them with this donation,” says CEO of Compass CBS and previous founding Board Chairman of Create Academy, Edgar R. Olivo.

Create Academy’s mission to deliver education through an arts integrated curriculum anchored in project-based learning, Create Academy prepares all students for success in college, career, and society by teaching students to collaboratively invent, design, and implement creative solutions that address societal problems and injustices.

In the 21st century, technology has had profound impacts in both teaching and learning. It is a valuable asset teachers can use to expand the minds of students while building technology skills for the future. Technology is a great tool that reinforces what teachers teach and a great way for students to continuously learn. The United States Department of Education states, “…it increases student engagement and motivation; and accelerates learning.”

“We are a Title 1 school, 80% of our families live on or below the poverty line,” says Principal of Create Academy, Mr. Kelly Horn, “we are really excited about these computer because we’ve been a little behind in techonology and this gives us a great kickstart for our plan to create computer stations in each classroom.”

Create Academy opened in 2015 and has about 140 students in grade levels Kindergarten through sixth grade. They are located at 2645 N 24th Street Phoenix, Arizona 85008.
